Sponson Weapon Mounts

Description

Two part resin kit. The Sponson Weapon Mounts add extra detail and theming to your tanks with a leather shroud or armoured style design.

COMPATIBILITY

These kits are compatible with the Internal Sponsons Conversion Kit . When used alongside the Internal Sponson Conversion Kit they will also be compatible with the Internal Sponson Covers. Please note that due to a difference in position covers aren’t compatible between tanks using these mountings and the Games Workshop plastic mountings.

Are these compatible with the Leman Russ’s original external sponsons and front hull mounting?

Yes, these work with both the external sponsons or front hull weapon, in both instances the top section of the plastic frame will need to be sanded down to fit the weapon mount. Note that this kit comes with 2 weapon mounts so if you also want to use this for both the sponsons and the front hull weapon you will need to purchase a second kit to have enough parts.

Are these compatible with the Rogal Dorn?

The weapon mounts are also compatible with the Rogal Dorn weapons (see photo), but aren’t directly compatible with the Rogal Dorn external sponsons as the pins are different sizes, it’s recommended that you use the Internal Sponson Conversion Kit instead of the external sponsons.

However, if you want to use the external sponsons all you need to do it remove the pins from the Sponson Weapon Mounts and glue them in place.

Can these replace pre-installed weapons mounts on the Internal Sponsons?

It should be possible to replace the existing standard Games Workshop weapon mounts used with the Internal Sponson Conversion Kit, but this will require some work and isn’t something i’ve tried myself so cannot make any guarantees. Firstly you’ll need to remove the original weapon mount, a small saw should do this. You’ll then have to remove the pins on the new Sponson Weapon Mount and possible trim the top and bottom of the mount to make it fit in through the opening, the Sponson Weapon Mount will then have to be glued in place. If you do this, the weapon mount won’t be able to rotate or be compatible with the Internal Sponson Covers.

PREPERATION

Resin kits should be washed in warm soapy water before use, some work may be needed to remove mould lines and fill in small air bubbles. If you need help you can follow the Beginners Guide to Resin.
