Painting Tanks: Oil Wash & Weathering Effects
A step by step tutorial video on how to use artist oils to create a pin wash for panel lines and weathering effects such as rain streaks and rust marks. In this video I use the Mars-alpha Leman Russ from Forgeworld but this technique will work on any tanks.
Prior to this video the tank has been base painted, had transfers added and been weathered with chipping effects, check out those links for in-depth videos on those techniques.
Can you explain the final blending process you did off camera? Is it just a continuation of the dry brushing process? Really keen to give this a try but am a tad nervous and need to be 100% sure I know what i’m doing. Love your Krieg btw. Cheers.
Yes, it’s the same process as I did on the video, just using a dry brush (or one with a very small amount of white spirit) and dragging the brush down along the model to blend the effect out more. Though some people like the contrast of having more definition on the weathering. Thanks very much for saying, that’s kind of you to say. 🙂
